This blog is dedicated to my current project. The Teal Dream or Molly as I call her . I have always loved the Honda Civic, but the sixth generations have held a special place in my heart. Since I first laid eyes upon one I knew I would some day own one. Though that dream was of an Electron Blue Pearl EM1, a sedan was never in the picture. I picked Molly up back in 2005, she is the third car I’ve owned now and by far my favorite. I remember the fateful night my Pontiac Sunbird blew up on the drive home from an all day skateboard session. Which left me stranded for about a week. With no car and hitching rides to school with freinds I got that awesome phone call from my parents. They knew I had always wanted a Civic and after a bit of searching they found one that they wanted me to check out. They picked me up that Sunday morning and we drove to the next town to check her out. I was ecstatic, we pulled up to the lot and there she sat the Ice Teal ej6 just called my name. The drive was like nothing I had experienced before at that time and just the fact that I was in a civic blew me away. I received a downpayment from my parents as a mix birthday/graduation present. I think I rolled off the lot that day the happiest I’ve ever been. 45,000 miles on the odometer, not a scratch or ding, and a previous owner none other than an old lady I never would have guessed the adventures this car and I would go through.

From the get go we had some interesting issues. Within 24 hours of ownership a shingle blew out from the back of a county dump truck and made its way across my headlight, hood, and windshield. The first battle scars were seen quick. 7 days into owning her I found myself talking with a couple people at the local skatepark. I was excited about my civic and when they asked me to rev her up I did *bone stock d16y7 or not haha*. As I went to pull away I realized I didn’t have her in gear and while revved up I slipped her back into drive. The tires squeeled and the lights started flashing. Apparently during this little mishap a county sherriff was pulling into the park. He saw me “burnout” and immediately stopped me. I was in a state of shock, both surprised at what had happened with the feeling of stupidity that I had neutra-dropped my brand new/used car. The officer was in the belief that I had intentionally burned out for my friends. I tried to plead with him that I didn’t believe that my car was capable of doing such a thing since it was both automatic and a civic haha. He called my parents and threatened to tow the car on charges of reckless driving. I ended up leaving that night in the passenger seat of my dad’s truck with a seatbelt sitation while my mom drove home in my baby.

Within days I had covered the stock exhaust tip with an oversized 3” tip from wal-mart and a set of under dash lights. *facepalm* But hey back in 2005 those things were still “cool” with us new car owners, we hadn’t learned our lesson yet. I hate to say that she saw a few more gauddy changes followed within the next year including street glow neons, halo projector headlights, and a home made mesh lower grill. I’m glad to say that this was as far as I had gone with the “ricer” scene and kind of layed off the car for a while. In time the neons were removed and I got tired of the cheap looking halo projector headlights. And purchased a pair of HID’s off of a fellow ClubCivic member. At this same time I DIY blacked my OEM headlights and installed the HID’s and added a type r lip. She was starting to come around.

As time progressed I came across a crack in my stock header and purchased a megan 4.2.1 set up. I didn’t think there was a way to install the new set up to the stock exhaust so I followed up by buying the megan drift spec catback exhaust. I was happy with this purchase it was fair priced and sounded nice. I then purchased a set of eibach sportline springs which sat in my shed for about a year, until I purchased a set of goldline lowering springs and tokico blue shocks/struts. I chose to go with the goldlines after reading some reveiws and believing that they would be about a half inch lower than the sportlines. In April 2008 I purchased my first set of wheels off of a friend from the forum I frequented most. They were a set of nippon formula 1’s. I felt that the gunmetal TE37 style wheel fit well with the ice teal and gave me a sense of some completion I guess you could say. I wasn’t even close to complete but having a set of wheels was the next big change for her. I had traded those after getting new tires for a set of Buddy Club P1’s 17” but wasn’t feeling them so I further traded for my current wheels 15” rota slipstreams in flat black. I added some yellow fogs but during install on the OEM bumper mis-directions caused big problems in the shape of useless cutouts in the bumper. I purchased a replacement bumper and mugen lip. Which stayed unpainted for well into around a year, I added fenders with sidemarkers from Password JDM.

I got tired of the black front end and with a lack of funds I decided to do some touch ups myself. The fenders were painted in the backyard and only cleared once hense the discolor look. I had planned on bringing them to the shop to get finished up along with the spraying of my bumper, lip, and grill but plans were again foiled. Touched up and looking good in one color with the assist of the old butchered bumper I took some peace in the cars look.

I decided that the 2 finger gap was an eyesore and it was time to enlist the use of coilovers. I picked up a set of Ground Control sleeves. My first thoughts before install were that I would not like the lowered look one bit, to my surprise I fell in love. The sedan sitting within an inch off the driveway was a gorgeous site. I don’t think I could ever drive a car with wheel gap again lol. Since the lowering of the civic, I have only lost 2 lips to shatty road conditions, and I’ve wrecked my exhaust upon the speed bump they installed outside the entrance to the parking lot at work.

Molly is still going strong, though currently sitting stationary in the garage awaiting some replacement parts due to normal wear and tear, a new exhaust, and a swap in the works. I plan on having her up and back in mint condition come summer 2010. I’ve made countless roadtrips and meets in this car and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon. She is a part of a dream that I am making a reality. I know there is plenty I could share with you, but just check back soon and I’ll have more to come.
